Savage Beauty

People often ask me why I'm so fascinated with fashion, and to be honest I can never give one consistent, straight answer. However, I hope this excerpt of a review I wrote on "Alexander McQueen: Savage Beauty", an exhibition I visited at The Metropolitan Museum of Art over the summer, will show a little of why I'm so infatuated with the industry... RIP Lee Alexander McQueen, you will always remain in my heart.

Swim Envy

While I was browsing Nordstrom's website this morning, I decided to wander over to the swimwear department...and what a mistake that was. One question: when did swimsuits get so expensive?! Here I am, just a girl looking for a cute, unpadded bikini, and although I found many positively adorable options, I could also almost hear my wallet crying. Therefore, I've resorted to blogging about my finds so that I can keep them in the confines of my mind...until I've saved up enough money to make a purchase, that is.

La Blanca 'Floral Fantasy' Bikini Top

MICHAEL Michael Kors 'Cascading Ruffles' Bandeau Bikini Top

Betsey Johnson 'Ship Shape' Bikini Top & Bottom

Marc by Marc Jacobs Halter Bikini Top & Bottom

I would happily lay out in the sun in any of these bikinis, but my personal favorites are the last two (flirty frills or minimalistic chic?). In the end, I think I'll call dibs on the Marc by Marc Jacobs; I can never resist clean, crisp color blocking. Now I just need some more dollars in the bank and a whole lot of sunshine...

Happy shopping!

Spring 2012

Whenever we experience any sunshine, I'm automatically in full Spring mode, thinking about florals, light hues, and breezy sandals. Here are some of my top Spring picks -

Bold Color
With a change of weather comes a change of colors, and I can't wait to start wearing pops of color like this coral (which is probably less red in person). This cutout dress from BP. Nordstrom reminds me of polished Versace, and I am currently trying to think of an excuse to order it online.

Peplum
The 2012 Oscars red carpet coined the term that this year is also the 'Year of the Peplum', and as a girl who loves feminine details & frills, I'm all for it. Top from BP. Nordstrom.

Flirty details
When I think Spring, I also think of collected, fun fashion. Spring is a time to be carefree and easygoing in your wardrobe choices, and this sweet scalloped hem top (from BP. Nordstrom) is a great example of this philosophy. I didn't believe it when I first saw it on the runway, but bird print seems to be in, no?

Florals
I am absolutely obsessed with floral print shorts, but I am also really picky when it comes to finding the perfect pair. However, I'm pretty sold these; they have the light wash and subdued feel that I've been looking for! Shorts from BP. Nordstrom.

Sandals
One of my favorite parts of Spring is the footwear. Don't get me wrong, I love my flats, but sandals will always have a special place in my heart, especially considering the fact that they elevate my height by a good couple of inches. Naughty Monkey sandals from Nordstrom (love the serpentine textured platform heel!).

In all honestly, my online shopping posts will probably mainly pull items from Nordstrom, since that's the only store that I really order from online (free shipping, how can a girl resist?). If you have any suggestions for websites though, be sure to let me know! Happy shopping :)

Hello, Hello!

Although I have a fashion blog @ www.garavani.tumblr.com, I've decided that this platform is better for posts with texts and multiple pictures... So here I am! Follow me for updates on the industry, collection reviews, personal style, and anything fashion.
